On 26th December 2022 we had a number of volunteers who took part in our Boxing Day Dip, a fundraising event event to help raise essential funds for East Durham Veterans Trust.
Last years dip took place at Seaham Harbour, however this year with the Seaham event being cancelled, we choose to take on the freezing temperatures in Hartlepool, an event organised by Hartlepool round table. On arrival the atmosphere was amazing with hundreds turning out to take on the challenge of the North Sea in the winter.
Four volunteers took on the challenge for East Durham Veterans Trust, one of which was disabled and had to use a specialist wheelchair to enter the water. Off they went into the sub-zero temperatures of the North Sea. With all four returning safely, a quick shower and warm up followed by a hot drink, it's safe to say the day was a huge success, with the team for East Durham Veterans Trust raising a fantastic £420.
