King's Coronation Breakfast

As you all know, the 6th of May marked the coronation of King Charles 111, a historic day for our nation. At East Durham Veterans Trust we seized the opportunity to celebrate our new king in the best way we knew how... with a good old English breakfast of course!

Our coronation breakfast was kindly sponsored by Asda, who gave us a very generous grand of £400 to pay for the event.

We were joined by so many people, all wishing to celebrate our new king, over 60 breakfasts were served as we gathered in the hall of our hub in Dawdon Youth and Community Centre, Seaham.

The money donated by Asda was not only used on providing delicous breakfasts for those in attendance but also on decorations for the venue, as we kitted the place out in banners, balloons and bunting, some might say it looked fit for a king!

We showed live coverage of the event from Westminster Abbey in London. Following the ceremony we toasted to his majesty at 12pm.

We had a fantastic morning, chatting, laughing and celebrating and watching history being made as our monarchy changed it's leader for the first time in almost 70 years following the passing of Queen Elizabeth 11.

You can see some of our photos from this great event below!
