As 2025 comes to a close, East Durham Veterans Trust was proud to host another unforgettable Veterans Christmas Dinner, bringing together veterans, their families, and the wider community for a truly special festive celebration.

Christmas can be a difficult time of year for many people, particularly for those who have served in the Armed Forces and may be facing loneliness or isolation. That’s why events like this are so important — offering not just a meal, but friendship, support, and a sense of belonging.
A Free Christmas Celebration for Veterans and Families
This year’s dinner was completely free of charge for all veterans and their families, ensuring that everyone could enjoy the festive season without worry or financial pressure.
Guests were treated to a delicious three-course Christmas meal, served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere filled with laughter, conversation, and Christmas cheer.
Fun, Games, and Festive Spirit
The evening wasn’t just about the food — it was about creating memories. There were plenty of fun and games throughout the event, bringing smiles to faces young and old.
It was wonderful to see families relaxing together, veterans sharing stories, and everyone enjoying the true spirit of Christmas: community, kindness, and togetherness.
A Surprise Visit from Santa Claus
One of the highlights of the evening was a very special surprise…
Santa Claus paid a visit!
The excitement in the room was unforgettable as Santa arrived to spread festive joy, and every child in attendance received a Christmas present. Seeing the happiness on the children’s faces was a reminder of what this event is all about — supporting families and creating moments of magic.
Ending 2025 the Right Way

The East Durham Veterans Trust Christmas Dinner was a perfect way to end the year. It showcased everything our charity stands for: support, friendship, and looking after our veteran community.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the evening possible, from volunteers to supporters, and of course to the veterans and families who joined us.
From all of us at East Durham Veterans Trust, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a hopeful, happy New Year.
Here’s to an even stronger 2026 together.
