East Durham Veterans Trust ia a VALOUR recongised Centrfor the North East of England
What is VALOUR
VALOUR is the UK Government's new nationwide veteran support system, backed by £50M of funding. It brings together a network of VALOUR-recognised centres, MOD Veterans Services who provide case management, a network of VALOUR Field Officers, a headquarters in the Office for Veterans' Affairs (OVA) within the Ministry of Defence, and an online digital service.

The system is designed to improve access to support for veterans and their families by creating a joined-up, and data-driven 'network of networks' connecting statutory and non-statutory service providers ranging from Local Government and NHS bodies to the wide variety Voluntary Community & Social Enterprise organisations in the third sector.

East Durham Veterans Trust is part of a consortium which consists of 8 organisations all of which have vast experience and know how is offering the support in these areas. See our consortium partners below and what support is available to Veterans, Veterans Families, Armed Forces Community and the Families of the Armed Forces Community.
Our Consortium Partners
East Durham Veterans Trust have a fantastic centre to visit and services include psychological support via case workers, support with housing, food and fuel poverty, benefit checks, PIP claims, housing items, armed forces compensation and armed forces pension support.
Armed Forces Outreach Service (AFOS) provide housing support and advice across all tenures, social housing, private rented and owner occupiers to those in housing need who may be vulnerable to losing their home.
Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) provide practical and emotional health and wellbeing support to improve the Armed Forces Community’s experience of the healthcare pathway, helping navigate complex systems and reduce the stress of illness and injury.
Royal Hospital Chelsea through the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans Outreach seeks to promote comradeship opportunities for older veterans locally and via an online community (Old Comrades) to address loneliness and social isolation.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity has one aim: to make sure that our Armed Forces community never battle alone. It’ s a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families in their time of need. We know about the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and we continue to meet the demand for support to enable the entire Armed Forces to thrive, to get through whatever challenges they face.
The Poppy Factory helps veterans and their families to overcome obstacles on the
path to employment. Its specialist team offers one-to-one employment support to help
veterans feel heathier, more independent and better connected.
Veterans for Veterans in Care are supporting veterans living in care settings by reducing
loneliness and social isolation through companionship, peer support, and staff training.
We identify veterans, connect them with dedicated veteran services, and help ensure
they receive the support, recognition, and sense of belonging they deserve.
Veterans Launchpad provide accommodation and individually tailored wrap around support for homeless veterans. Veterans can stay with Launchpad for up to two years, with the aim of successfully transitioning into independent living, with provision of floating support for as long as they need it.
